Today's Respectful Request To Those With the Folding Money
today while running errands, i went by the library. Earlier, while looking for a movie, I noticed there was a lack of materials regarding the late Anton LaVey. So I put in a request for some materials on the subject that didn't trespass into the territory of hysteria.
When I got home I had received an email regarding my request from:
Liz Boston, Reference Librarian
> Central Reference Service
> Timberland Regional Library
> 415 Tumwater Blvd SW
> Tumwater, WA 98501-5799
> 360-704-INFO (704-4636) in Olympia
> area or 1-800-562-6022
> Fax 360-704-4610
So I composed this response:
Hi thanks for the reply.
I realised after I put in the request that i'd gotten the title wrong. It's "Speak of the Devil" and it appears to still be available from Feral House. The book "Satan Speaks" is a collection of writings by LaVey, some of which are pretty funny.
I feel this documentary would be a useful addition to the Timberland library's collection because it is a "primary source" of information regarding a widely misunderstood icon (LaVey), institution (The Chuch of Satan), and publication (The Satanic Bible). Also, the library appears to have very little information presented by LaVey's side of the discussion.
Lastly, and on the same subject, I might also recommend The Secret Life of a Satanist: The Authorized Biography of Anton LaVey" because again there appears to be no information in the library's collection on this important late twentieth century icon. For some reviews, here is the Amazon description.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
John-Christian Flack
we'll see what happens...
P.S. I also picked up some CDs i'd put on hold. There was 1 by Flaming Lips, 2 by Wendy Carlos and 7(!) by Brian Eno. I guess he's not too popular w/ library patrons.
Aside: Geez, does everybody have their own Web page now?
Also received Viva Dictators! in the mail today, which i'm listening to right now. I just realized that Lee Ving's band, FEAR, owes a lot to Handsome Dick & Co.
All in all, it was an eventful day. Now it's raining.
